SEND

At The Stonebridge School, we are committed to ensuring that children with special educational needs and disabilities are fully included in school life and have the opportunity to achieve and thrive.

Children with SEND are supported to access our mainstream provision alongside their peers. We recognise that every child is different and that needs may change over time.

Supporting children with SEND

High-quality teaching is the starting point for supporting pupils with SEND. Teachers consider pupils’ individual starting points, strengths and barriers to learning, making appropriate adaptations whilst maintaining high expectations.

Where a child requires additional support, we work with the child and their family to understand their needs and consider the provision that will best support their learning and development.

For some children, this may include accessing support in The Rainbow Room, an adapted environment within our school where aspects of SEND provision can be delivered in a setting better suited to their individual needs. Children remain part of their class and our wider school community, with provision tailored according to their needs when they require it.

This reflects Brent's 2026 Ordinarily Available Provision, which emphasises high-quality adapted teaching, high expectations and making the broad and balanced curriculum accessible to pupils with SEND.

Working with children and families

We believe that effective SEND provision depends upon strong partnership with children, parents and carers.

We value parents' knowledge of their children and encourage families to share information, concerns and successes with us. Children should also have opportunities to contribute to decisions about their support and understand the strategies that help them learn.

This partnership approach is also central to Brent's Ordinarily Available Provision, which expects schools to involve parents, carers and children in decision-making, target-setting and reviewing support.

SENDCo

Our SENDCo, Nasreen Iqbal, holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo).

She works closely with pupils, families, teachers, school leaders and external professionals to support children with SEND and strengthen provision across the school.

For further information about SEND at The Stonebridge School, please contact Nasreen through the school office on 020 8965 6965.
