Remote Education

The Stonebridge School is committed to providing high-quality remote education where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able and well enough to continue learning.

Remote education is not an alternative to attending school. It will only be considered as a last resort where attendance in person is not possible and a pupil is able to continue learning.

When remote education may be provided

Remote education may be considered where the school is required to close or restrict attendance, or in individual circumstances where a pupil is temporarily unable to attend school but is able to learn.

Arrangements for individual pupils will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Our provision

Wherever possible, pupils learning remotely will follow the same curriculum as pupils in school. Some adaptations may be necessary where particular resources or equipment are required.

Provision may include recorded teaching, work set by teachers, reading materials, printed learning packs and appropriate online resources such as:

Oak National Academy
BBC Bitesize

Where appropriate and subject to availability, we may provide technology or printed materials to help pupils access their learning.

Engagement and feedback

Teachers will provide appropriate opportunities for pupils to engage with their learning and receive feedback. We will maintain contact with pupils and families and follow up where there are concerns about engagement, wellbeing or access to learning.

Supporting pupils with SEND

We recognise that some pupils with SEND may require additional support to access remote education. Teachers will work with pupils and their families to provide appropriate adaptations and resources according to individual need.

Safeguarding

Our safeguarding and child protection procedures continue to apply during periods of remote education, including arrangements for online safety and responding to concerns about a child’s welfare.
